Our shed faces our bedroom door and is a bit bright and unsightly.
I'd like to plant a small hedge where the pebbles are to break up the starkness.
Is there any issue with planting it there (drainage etc)? Worst case I'll put in some pot plants but I'd rather a hedge I think (maybe a lilly pilly)?
Hi @bazz235
Happy New Year
I might use larger planter/s in that spot to aviod root issues with pavers lifting etc. Not a ideal place for plants justneed ones that like semi shade
Lilly pilly trimmed flat would fit,
Ideas Espalier a single plant in a pot across the shed. Like a rose etc with a perfume next to bed room.
Nice perfume plants next to bedroom is always nice.
Green wall
Decorative panels
Paint the shed.
Ferns in pots should like it there.
Food for extra thought I hope
Hi @bazz235,
I agree with @Jewelleryrescue that using planters could be a good way to avoid any potential issues with drainage, especially if you're concerned about moisture affecting your shed or the surrounding area. However, whether you can plant directly into the ground depends on the suitability of the space. Since it’s set back from the house, I wouldn't expect any significant moisture issues.
If you prefer a hedge, a Lilly Pilly could work well for that area, but another option to consider is Star Jasmine. It’s a hardy vine that can be trained to grow up a crossed-wire trellis, providing an attractive and dense screen to break up the brightness. This would also give you the added flexibility of creating a vertical garden without taking up too much space on the ground.
Either way, both planters and planting directly into the ground could work depending on your preference. Just make sure to assess the soil and drainage conditions before planting.
Please let us know it you have any questions.
