Can I install garden edging near green electrical box?

Screenshot_20250305-223331_Chrome.jpg

Hi Team. I am planning to have the rola pak garden edging in my front yard. However there is the green electrical box around. Is it safe to install it with 45 cms wood peg in the soil along the concrete side of my house from fence to letter box? Thanks.

Re: rola pak 1m 2 log ezy garden edging

Hello @Mic1

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about installing Rolapak Ezy Logs.

I'm sorry, but you generally cannot place anything that obstructs access to the green electrical box (pad-mounted transformer) in front of your property. Your energy provider, which manages the electricity network, generally requires at least 3 meters of clear space at the front and 1.5 meters on the sides and back for maintenance and safety. You also shouldn’t plant trees, install fences, or build structures too close to it.

If you want to improve the appearance of the area, low-growing plants or decorative rocks outside the clearance zone may be acceptable, but always check with your electricity provider or your local council before making any changes or beginning a project.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
