How to fix leaking between the garden tap and the M/F Thread Adapter?

Hi everyone,

Recently, I bought a water timer for my lawn. The connector doesn't fit my garden tap, so I bought a brass M/F thread adapter from Bunnings.

However, after installation, water leaks between the garden tap and the adapter. I managed to find an o-ring from my garden hose and put it in the adapter, then used the spana to install it tight. Sadly, the leakage issue persists.

I remember seeing online that tape must be used on the tap before installing the adapter. Do I need this to fix the leakage? If so, which tape in Bunnings is suitable for my case?

I'm sorry if the question is silly. Any help is appreciated.  🙏

Cheers,

Rickychan

Re: Fix leaking between the garden tap and the M/F Thread Adapter

Hi @rickychan,

Plumber's thread tape would be the correct tape to use. Just add around five rotations to the tap before screwing on the fitting.

Alternatively, you could pick up one of these Aqua Systems 2 Way Tap Outlets and pinch the fitting out of it. This fitting comes with a flat washer within it, so no need for tape.

Please let me know if you have questions.

Mitchell
