An unused space was transformed into an inviting nook with practical storage and a light feature.
The project
My favourite thing to do in a house is create beautiful spaces that also have a practical purpose.
This little nook gave me the the perfect opportunity to turn something that was wasted space into more storage, as well a comfortable spot for enjoying the sun.
Materials used
This was all I needed to create this space:
- 900mm x 600mm x 9mm MDF panel x 4
- 900mm x 600mm x 12mm MDF panel x 1
- Pinnacle 100mm single fixed pin butt hinge x 2
- Dulux Casper White paint
- Foam and fabric
- Screws
- Brilliant antique brass Metta interior wall light.
Steps
I started by making the base from the four 9mm MDF panels, connecting them with screws. I then attached the hinges to the back panel and to the lid. I gave all visible areas two coats of paint.
I created the seat using foam and some fabric I bought specially for this project. You can also use any fabric you already have at home.
I finished things off by adding a wall light to create a more intimate and cosy vibe (for this I got help from a family member who is an electrician).
I love how this project turned out and also how I created space to store all my cushions!
