Some leftover paint and bed slats used as shelves helped upcycle an old chest of drawers into a farmhouse-style cabinet.
When I found this old set of drawers, they had no top and there were only drawer fronts and no inner cabinet. I had a vision of what I wanted as soon as I got the empty shell of a cupboard. It did have three drop-down doors on the front but nothing inside, so it was very weird.
So, I decided to use the top one and add shelves to it all. I stripped and sanded back the top drawer. I found an awesome piece of timber slab to use as the top. I used recycled bed slats as shelves.
I painted and then distressed the rest of the cabinet and it turned into a great, usable, farmhouse display cabinet workbench. Everything on it that I used was recycled, which I love. Even the paint was left over from a family member's house build. It was an exciting and rewarding project.
Community member houseonhockhill couldn't find the furniture she wanted in stores, so she created her own upcycled chest of drawers with rattan.
Workshop member Sandy used timber Venetian blinds to help create these upcycled drawers from a baby change table.

Great work @DonnaDrummond1! By utilizing leftover paint and repurposing bed slats, you have successfully transformed an old chest of open drawers into a beautiful farmhouse-style cabinet. I particularly like how you added some extra rustic charm by distressing the paint. Your creativity and resourcefulness are truly inspiring.
