Drawers removed and new paint applied to upcycle two bedside tables.
With these bedside tables, I removed the two bottom drawers and runners and cut to size some Plywood for a bottom shelf. I glued and nailed the plywood after it was sanded and then filled over the top and the joins for a smooth finish.
I sanded the top to expose the beautiful woodgrain. I used my orbital sander with sandpaper with a grit of 120 and then worked up to a grit of 220 for a smooth finish. (If the top layer of old paint is particularly thick, then paint stripper maybe required). I'm doing what I can to accentuate the beautiful woodgrain or feature and giving it a modern twist with some beautiful paint or stain.
I then applied a liming white and water-based polyurethrane to the top for a buttery smooth finish. I applied a primer, three coats of mineral furniture paint and finished with a finishing wax to the painted areas and installed new gold hexagon-shaped hardware. I absolutely love the satisfaction of completing a flip.
It also feels good about that I am hopefully contributing to less rubbish going to landfill unnecessarily.
