Rusty school lockers were restored using paint and a timber top made out of fence palings.
The project
I came across these old rusty lockers that needed a whole lot of love. I primed and painted using Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint. I used three coats of grey paint to build up a solid background colour. Then I lightly sprayed a darker walnut colour over the top – spraying from a distance of about 50cm – to highlight all the edges and doors. This gave it a distressed, rustic look.
The top was made by joining old fence palings together. After a good sand, I applied multiple coats of Feast Watson tung oil. Best advice I can give is to do multiple light coats rather than a few thick coats. Turned out an absolute treat.
