Reclaimed pavers and a simple cabana make a perfect spot for relaxing in shade by the pool.
We wanted a nice outdoor spot for relaxing by the pool. As this area faces directly west it gets extremely hot in summer here in Hervey Bay. We needed something that would shade us before the sun went down.
We purchased the cabana from Bunnings and it is essentially a powder-coated frame with curtaining that winds through the roof section and can be raised or lowered as needed.
As we also get a considerable amount of breeze, we found the curtains would slide over to one side. I decided to cut the curtains in half and make a pocket at the top of all four sections and then thread them on to the top rails. This way we can control the light and breeze in all four sections and tie the curtains back when not required.
We also purchased two rolls of garden screening, which we laid across the top of the cabana to give us filtered light.
We paved the floor with reclaimed terracotta pavers, which we got from a neighbour who was pulling up a driveway.
The area is beautifully warm at the moment, but we also purchased a chiminea from Bunnings for days when it's cooler so we can still sit and enjoy our garden.
We now have an area that can be used year-round and we’re loving it.
