An extensive laundry overhaul with new cupboards, plasterboard, a Meranti panel top and LED lights plus a fresh coat of paint.
What was meant to be a simple ceiling fix from a roof leak ended up becoming a full-blown laundry reno.
We started with a full ceiling replacement, with battens, gyprock and trim from Bunnings.
We used Pine cover strips over the joins to minimise plastering and match the existing character in this house.
Here are the battens.
We installed additional cupboards, being two overhead, a pantry and base cupboard which we topped with a Meranti panel top for a mini butler's pantry, all from Bunnings. We replaced all the handles on the existing cupboards and painted the old splashback with the Dulux Renovator Range, even using the leftover paint on the old chest freezer. The walls were painted in Dulux backyard, with wall tiles a shade darker to match. We replaced the lights with LED Oyster lights from Bunnings.

Thats a nice looking Laundry upgrade, It looks like a nice warm room and well thoughtout one.
I especially like the benchtops They bring a certain feel to the room.
I do have a question tho For the ceiling how come you have added the pine strips under the trusses and joists? Is it to make it easy to screw to or to level the ceiling itself?
Dave
Thanks @Dave-1 we’re happy with how it all turned out. Yeah you guessed right with the battens, just made it a lot easier to screw the gyprock on. The house is built out of hardwood that was cut and milled on the place. Also made use of the opportunity while replacing the ceiling to ad an extra access hole.
