This clever ensuite renovation makes great use of limited space.
The bathroom measures 2.65m by 1.1m. All the fixings are from Bunnings.
We opted not to put up a towel rack. We didn't want it above the toilet, and we didn't want it on the white wall as the shower door would open in to it. Instead we bought over-the-door towel hangers and put them on the fixed glass panel, which worked well.
The basin is from Bunnings too. We got it on a clearance sale!
The vanity I made myself from two Beechwood panels from Bunnings.
The drawers are a $10 cabinet drawer kit from Bunnings, and then just a few runners. In hindsight I'd maybe recommend buying a Kaboodle drawer kit, as I had many challenges trying to align the rails on the drawer with the ones on the side. It's still not perfect but it looks good enough.
The toilet was the hardest piece to acquire because of the research involved in finding one small enough. We got the Caroma Invisi Series compact toilet suite, which doesn't protrude from the wall very much – it's only 47cm from the wall to the edge of the toilet rim.
It has some special features to enable this. There's an in-wall cistern, and the waste pipe actually goes down into the wall as there is not enough space for a floor outlet. It comes with a special adapter to make a standard pipe fit the thinner pipe, which can go inside a standard 90mm cavity.
In terms of lighting, we have a black LED and fan square in a ceiling fitting, and a single HPM heat lamp (which is not nearly enough, even in this little room! I'd recommend a double lamp). There's also an above-mirror make-up light and then a little pendant with a decorative 3W globe from Bunnings. The pendant is great for midnight bathroom trips without being blinded.
No matter what type of bathroom you have, it all starts with planning and research to discover how you can make best use of what is often the smallest room in the house.
