What toilet cistern do you recommend?

We have a very old toilet where the flush buttons are not working properly.

we think we should change the cistern.

what cisterns do you recommend that are durable long lasting as it is for tenanted property.

we don’t want the cheapest, we want a good quality one.

is a cistern easy to replace or do we need a plumber?

Re: toilet cistern

Hello @Flora1

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet cistern.

Just a friendly reminder that plumbing works must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.

Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your cistern. This will help our members assess what kind of cistern will work with your pan. There are a few generic cisterns that are compatible with various pans, but it's best that we see what you have first in order for us to give you a proper recommendation. A good example would be the Stylus Allegro Plastic Cistern WELS 3 Star 6L/Full. It is a robust cistern with quality valve parts that will provide a long service life.

In regards to installation, it's best to engage the services of a licensed plumber so that it is mounted and installed properly.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: toilet cistern

Hi Eric,

I have a photo of the toilet but it is hard to see the brand as it is quite old, it is beige in colour,

What cistern would be suitable for it?

Re: toilet cistern

Hello @Flora1

Just a friendly reminder that all plumbing works must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.

Thank you for posting that photo of your toilet. It is an old Caroma toilet suit in the original almond ivory. I can't recall the model's name, but the good news is that it can be replaced. If you wish to keep the original colour of the cistern the only available model is the Caroma Ivory Uniset II Cistern WELS 3 Star 6L/Full. Please make sure to call the store before you go to make sure this item is in stock. The other cistern is the Stylus Allegro Plastic Cistern WELS 3 Star 6L/Full. It will work with your toilet pan but it is white.

Now there are other cisterns available at the store, but these two are my best recommendations as they will work with your older pan. If you get a cistern that is too small your toilet might not work correctly.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: What toilet cistern do you recommend?

Hi @Flora1,

I thought I'd also mention that you might like to take this opportunity to update the whole suite to something more modern like the Mondella Rococo Rimless Back To Wall Toilet Suite WELS 4 Star 4.6L/Full. We have a convenient toilet installation service which you could consider taking advantage of. Once you purchase your suite, you simply pay for installation and a qualified tradesperson will then contact you to arrange a convenient time.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: What toilet cistern do you recommend?

Hi Mitchell,

Is this the whole toilet including the pan? This seems like a better option?

Eric recommended the coroma cistern that would match the colour as attached that would be suited, which is only $20 less.

What do you recommend we replace the whole toilet suite?

Re: What toilet cistern do you recommend?

Hi @Flora1,

Yes, that is for the whole toilet suite, including the pan, which is why it might be a good opportunity to upgrade, given the cost of just the ivory cistern. There's a whole range of suites you could consider.
