We have our washing machine connected under bench as per photo below. A plumber advised this is not to AS3500 standards. Please could you advise what is wrong with this connection and advise how to rectify to standards. Many thanks for your help.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @bronwynforeman. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about connecting a washing machine.
You would need to connect the hose directly to a spigot on a sink trap. It gets pushed onto the spigot and clamped in place. If you have a sink nearby, then there might be an available spigot on its trap. This PVC would then need to be capped.
As the installation of a trap or capping off a pipe is considered plumbing work, it needs to be completed by a licensed plumber. However, if there is a spigot nearby, you could connect the washing machine hose to it yourself.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
