Do you need to paint villaboard before installing cabinets?

Hi,

Re: do you need to paint villaboard before installing cabinets?

Hi @Kathlyn,

Thank you for your question.

The only reason I can think that it wouldn't be ok is if it is below the height of a tap. If water gets on bare plaster, it will deteriorate extremely quickly. A quick coat of paint will help protect it from water.

It's entirely up to you, but I would just paint it. It's going to be behind cabinets, so you don't need to be careful, just slap a quick coat on and move on.

Let me know what you think.

Jacob
