Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your tap spindle.
Your old spindle is what is called a deep seat spindle, and you'll need to use a Shaw & Mason Brass Deep Seat Basin Spindle to replace your old one. I propose getting a refund on the spindle set you purchased and exchanging it for the deep seat ones.
