Need Advice on Sealing a 10mm Gap Between Tub and Floor

Hi everyone,

I'm facing a bit of a problem and could use some advice.

There's a 10mm gap where my bath

and the floor meet, When getting out of bath and showering, water seeps under the bath.

I'm worried about mould growth under the bath.

What would be the best way to seal this gap?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kd1993. It's tremendous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sealing a bathtub.

To seal the 10mm gap between your bath and the floor, I’d recommend starting by inserting a foam backer rod into the gap. Choose one slightly thicker than the height of the gap so it fits snugly and stays in place. Push the rod in just far enough to leave space for the sealant to sit flush with the tub’s front surface. Once the backer rod is in place, apply a bead of wet-area silicone along the gap. Smooth it out with a wet finger or a caulking tool, ensuring the silicone forms a cove that adheres to both the bath and the floor for a watertight seal. This will help prevent water from seeping under the bath and reduce the risk of mould growth.

I've created a rendering below to help illustrate.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
