Is this a standard shower fitting or do I need a connector?
Hi hi. Just moved in and the shower head was connected directly to the wall without an arm. I bought a shower head and it comes with an arm but the arm is a male connector. I’m unaware of if this is standard in Australia or did I accidentally purchase an American shower head by mistake?

Re: Is this a standard shower fitting or do I need a connector?
Hi @Nanners,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
This is not typically what you'd find with a showerhead. You can see an example of one being installed in How To Replace A Shower Head.
Were there any other parts included with the shower head?
It could be that you've purchased an overseas showerhead, or there could be a missing part.
You may be able to use a Threaded Hexagon Socket with the correct thread diameter for your application, but it would likely have implications on where the cover plate will sit.
Unfortunately, if there are no other parts, it's likely you'll have to either replace the showerhead or contact a plumber for their assistance.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
