How to replace non standard shower drain?

Hi, I have a non standard shower drain which is 90mm sized instead of the standard 80mm or 100mm size. How do I find a replacement for the shower drain cover alone which is also a screw in type as well.

I’ve searched everywhere and would appreciate if there is any advice for this.

Re: how to replace non standard shower drain

Hi @zard,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, I've been unable to find a suitable replacement for your shower grate. It may have been imported from overseas as this is certainly not standard sizing for Australia and New Zealand.

You may need to replace the whole floor drain with something like this Kinetic 100mm Chrome Brass Square Floor Grate.

I'd be happy to help with this if you'd like to give it a try.

Let me know what you think.

Re: how to replace non standard shower drain

Hi @JacobZ ,

it might turn up that I have to replace it. I did ask someone previously to see if that can be replaced as a whole. Turns out that the entire fixture according to the professional was somehow “glued” to the drainage pipe and removal might cause a waterproof break which makes the entire job so much more complex.

hence why I am really hoping to find a replacement of the screen itself which will make it so much easier.

Re: how to replace non standard shower drain

Hi @zard,

I'm sorry, but I can't find anything that would work.

Perhaps you could speak with a metal fabricator. They may be able to either weld a new bar on your grate or use it to create a replica.

Outside of this, the only option I see working is to replace the whole floor waste unit.

Let me know what you think.

Jacob
