How to replace an old toilet?

I need to replace an old toilet but I’m getting very confused about sizing! I believe the toilet is an S trap but I’m not sure how to measure for a new one. Do I try find one that lines with the current bolts? Gross toilet picture warning:

Re: In need of a new toilet

Hi @kw,

Why are you replacing the current toilet? Typically, the newer close coupled systems have a larger base than your current unit and should cover any previous bolt holes. Take, for instance, the Caroma WELS 4 Star Sahara II Wall Faced Close Coupled Toilet Suite. It's suitable for S-trap installation and protrudes 703mm from the wall. This is further than your current unit, so its base will cover up any damage to the tiles.

It looks like your waste pipe is about perfect, and the new unit has some adjustment to suit. It appears like your toilet is pretty standard, and you should find that most close coupled suites will suit.

If you were after a similar style to what you currently have, you could go with a Stylus WELS 3 Star, 4L/Min Allegro Link Toilet Suite. Getting the waste pipe right is the most important part, and this uni has a tolerance of 150-250mm from the wall. From your measurement, it looks like you'd have no issues.

I'd suggest you take a look at our range and select a few that you like the look of. Let the plumber know their details, and they'll be able to pick one that will work.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: In need of a new toilet

Hi Mitchell,

Thank you so much for the help! I’m replacing it for a more modern look. It’s a very old bathroom. I’ll have a look at the one’s you’ve suggested.

Thanks again!
