Hi folks. As I think I said in a previous post I have one of those sliding shower screens which, despite using every cleaning product under the sun, won't clean back as the grime has discoloured the silicone in the screen so its ingrained and won't come out (this was picked up as a possibility in another post I think). This has always been a very difficult shower screen to keep clean due to the nooks and crannies so to keep up with the rest of the almost now beautiful bathroom I think its time to bite the bullet and replace it. My question is how hard is it to replace the sliding door ensemble with a simpler opening swing door? Can the standing framework be used or will it be a case of having to replace the whole shower enclosure? Maybe something like the Mondella Frameless shower Door kit but unsure if this is something I could do or would need a professional. The shower enclosure is clean and in good condition so its just the door thats the problem and needs and update.
Hi @DIYHaveaCrack,
Provided the width of the opening is within the requirements for the new shower door, it would be entirely possible to install the new door and frame into the existing enclosure. How easy it will be to install likely comes down to how well the enclosure was finished prior to installing the current frame. If it's tiled neatly under the frame then it could be as simple as removing the current frame and then installing the new one. Given this project will involve large glass panels that can easily shatter, it would be best to have a couple of quotes done to see if this is something you'd like to have a professional complete for you. If it's a reasonable price to have the new door professionally installed, I'd recommend you go that route.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Just wondering if it's possible to purchase this type of 3 sliding panel shower enclosure/shower screen.
Hi @charlie0123,
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of any off-the-shelf, tri-sliding inline shower doors.
It may be a proprietary or custom system that needs to be installed by a glazier.
Allow me to tag @Nailbag and @Dave-1 to see if they have any ideas.

Hi @charlie0123
yes you can but only as 2nd hand which means you will be most likely looking at aged screens already I. Able condition as the ones you have

100% agree with @MitchellMc here. Your best cost effective solution would be to have a couple of quotes to replace the current sliders with a single hinged glass door off a short return with installation.

Hi Charlie01. Yes I also went through this process. For aesthetics and a MUCH better look for your bathroom I would definitely be replacing these doors if you can. They are so very hard to keep clean and look so dated. I can tell you that replacing them with a single swinging door looks fantastic and added so much to the overall look of the bathroom. The downside is price - I got two quotes and they were pretty much the same at around the $1025 mark. That was Jones and Rumley and Taylor Screens. I went with Taylor Screens and they did and excellent job and the service was very good. By the way, this included removal and installation as that wasn't something I could do myself (about $185). If you can, replacing these 3 slider doors will be a better investment in the long run. Having said that, I did a bit of googling and found this site that has an updated version of the 3 slider door (not sure if you can get them in Tassie though). https://www.elegantshowers.com.au/products/elegant-showers-3-panel-sliding-shower-screen-enclosure-d...
Good Morning @charlie0123
I havnt seen the three sliding doors for sale anywhere. Secondhand as has been mentioned may be an option if you are trying to repair/replace broken ones.
I have the same sliding doors and they do come off the runners, and so many times i have thought "if they come off and crack (they should be safty glass ) and shatter and I am in the shower... Yeah my head does the whole horror scene. If possible I would suggest to consider a newer stype door.
