Hi there,
trying to take this tap apart to fix it. Can’t seem to take it apart from the top. Can anyone help?
Hello @fatkinson
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fantastic to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about removing the top of your tap.
I suggest using a pointy knife to remove the golden cover cap that is in front of the handle. Behind that cover cap is a grub screw holding the handle in place. You'll need an Allen key to remove the grub screw. Once it's off, it might be necessary to rock the handle back and forth to remove the handle from the ceramic post.
Once the handle is off you just need to remove the cover shield and the brass locking ring. Please make sure to bring the old cartridge with you to the store so that you can compare for size and shape.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Let me also extend a very warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @fatkinson.
I trust Eric's advice will prove very helpful and that you can quickly repair your leaking tap.
Just wanted to add a reminder to wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves and be careful when using the knife to remove the cap.
Feel free to post anytime you need a hand or have a project to share. We look forward to reading all about your projects and plans for around the house and garden.
