How to remove the large cylinder (blue and black) with buttons in cistern as sticking to base?
Hello @Nigel2
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your flushing valve.
I suggest examining the bottom of the flushing valve carefully. There are two possible ways to remove this kind of flushing system. First, is the push to release clip set which you will see at the bottom of the flushing valve. They are like two rectangular flat pieces on either side of the flushing valve. Pushing/Pulling the top/bottom section of the two clips and pulling the flushing valve upwards should release it.
The second method is the twist to release set. Hold on to the top section of the flushing assembly and twist it clockwise. Do not apply extreme force as this will damage the flushing assembly. If it refuses to move stop twisting the flushing valve.
If it proves too difficult, I propose engaging the services of a plumber to replace the washer of your flushing valve.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to fix a leaking toilet
If you need further assistance, please let me know.

I would like to thank you very much for the time and effort you put into your reply. It was most informative and encouraging.
I will follow your recommendations carefully.

@Nigel2 @Can you please tell us how you fixed it? (I have the same model.) thx.
Thank you for the question.
I do not know where the paperwork has been filed but I have a replacement item on my desk. I will discribe what I can.
My original unit was leaking at outlet seals which are black (hard to see) because they are of course located at the bottom of the unit.
The flushing unit unit has the following information very lightly sttamped into the cream colour plastic : Bestter. A watermark approval (half way up the unit) is T8106.
On further examination on getting a replacement unit (with no fitting instructions) i found that the original unit had not been installed incorrectly or had become disloged perhaps due to rough treatment. If the toilet is running water contiually (does not switch off) I would suggest checking that the unit has not become dislodged.
You have little room, but try to push the unit down into the outlet pipe, being careful to align the blue/black panels in the right orientation.
If the flushing unit is damaged there are no fixings it can with difficulty be pulled out of the flush pipe entrance. Ideally before doing this I would suggest photographing the unit, taking the photograph to Bunnings ant talk to someone with plumbing experience so that you get a replacement unit (with installation instructions). There are at least a couple of different types. Unboxed units are most likely cheaper but I would pay the extra and get a boxed unit with instructions (you will still save a plumber's call out fee) and learn something for any future occasions..
Hope it works out well for you
