Hey All,
I'm trying to change the washer on this wall tap (shower) and possibly get the spindle to retreat a bit, as it's currently sticking too far out to fully screw the tap on, but I can't get the flange off. It has a spring but also seems to be stuck by the white plastic wrapped around the spindle. Should I just be more forceful? Don't want to break anything. Would really appreciate any advice.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @BarefacedNovice. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a tap spindle.
That's a slightly unique design, but my best guess would be that the white plastic section should pull directly off the spindle. I assume it's just a push-fit. It's likely a bit stuck, and you could gently rotate it a few times first with multi-grip pliers and possibly apply a bit of WD-40 to the spindle shaft before trying to pull it off.
Please let me know if you continue to have difficulties.

Gave it a go and it was just a bit stiff. Thank you!
