Hi Bunnings Community. I bought these taps as part of a laundry mini renovation. However when installed following the instructions as soon as I turn the water back on water is pouring through them (through the taps not where they are attached to the wall), even when they are turned off. Any ideas? It seemed a pretty straightforward job…… Thanks!
Hello @Suzanne_P
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your washing machine taps.
Thats is quite the mystery when the tapware is in the off position and water is till pouring through them. Have you tried other positions such as the center? At this point in time, if you still have the original docket and packaging, I suggest returning them for a credit or an exchange.
By the sounds of it there might be something wrong with the tapware. Generally, when these taps are installed, plumbing tape is wrapped around the wall outlets and then the taps are screwed on. If the taps are left in the open position water will come through but can be shut off by twisting the handle into the off position.
One way to test your new tapware is to place your hand over the inlet of the tap and blowing into it. In the open position wind will pass right through, but in the closed position you should not be able to blow air through it.
Please note that this is technically a plumbing job and and must be carried out by a registered plumber.
