How to fix ugly new grout?

I just did some wall tiling in bathroom, really regretted to use Davco 1.5KG white sanitized colourgrout - it's very gritty, looks ugly and feels rough. Unfortunately I bought it without checking the product reviews beforehand (There had been some negative reviews). I used Davco grey colour one a year ago, it was good. Now I want to get it fixed. Do I have other options other than removing the grout completely and re-grout using different product? Thanks for help.

Re: Any other options to fix ugly new grout?

Hi @charlie0123,

If colour were the only issue, then there are some great options for grout paints that can be used to rejuvenate and give the grout a new look.

Unfortunately, this would only deal with the colour issue with the grout, so if the grittiness and roughness are a big issue, then you'll have to remove and replace the grout.

If so, you can use a grout saw and vacuum cleaner to remove the old grout and replace it with the grout of your choice.

Let me know what you think and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Any other options to fix ugly new grout?

Thanks, Jacob, I sorted it out. I wrapped a ball pen with #150 sand paper and gently sanded the grout. I worked well.
