Re: How to fix a stuck lock?

Hello @onyx

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your door lock.

I suggest spraying the inside with WD-40 300g Specialist High Performance White Lithium Grease. It is ideal for bearings, hinges, winches, chains, motor pivot point, latches, pistons, conveyors and metal parts.

Once you've applied the lubricant, I suggest moving and manipulating the lock until it unlocks itself. However, if the mechanism still refuses to move or disengage itself, I recommend thinking about replacing it with a new one.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @TedBear for their recommendations.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: How to fix a stuck lock?

Good Evening @onyx

Locks can be a pain, I have tried fixing a couple of them for hrs only to finally figure it out and it would have taken mins. 😕 I dont recognise your lock, do you know the model type? I dont think I have ever seen a lock with a pin and then another pin like yours? What type of door was it securing?

Re: How to fix a stuck lock?

Hi Dave! It is similar to this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/gainsborough-satin-chrome-circular-privacy-sliding-cavity-door-set_p4190...

The lock is in the door to the shower.

I tried spraying it but it's still stuck :unhappy:

Re: How to fix a stuck lock?

Hi @onyx

Thanks for sharing that extra information about your lock. I'm sorry to hear the spray did not untangle the lock. It's possible that there is a piece inside the lock that has either worn down or has come loose. Unfortunately, even if we were to find the broken piece it would be extremely difficult to find a spare part for the lock.

The next option is to bring the lock to a locksmith, which technically will cost you more than getting a new lock. Moving forward, I still recommend getting a new lock for your sliding door as this will be a cost-effective solution.

If you need your lock installed, I also suggest speaking to the store's special orders team about the door lock installation service.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
