How to cut and weld mirror hooks?

IMG_8083.jpeg

Hi there,

I purchased this mirror which was incorrectly advertised as having hook holders both horizontally and vertically.

Currently it cannot be hung horizontally which is what I purchased it for.

Is there any way to cut the holders and weld them so that it’s strong enough to be held? It’s 10kg so quite heavy.

Thanks!

Re: How to cut and weld mirror hooks?

Hi @diy_vvv

My apologies for the late reply. I'm afraid cutting the steel hooks and rewelding them into a new spot is an involved process requiring special tools and welding skills. I don't recommend doing it as a first time D.I.Y project.

Instead, I propose using the Everhang 11kg Spring Loaded Mirror Clips to hold the mirror in place. I suggest bringing your mirror to the store and testing the hooks to see if they fit on your mirror frame. Another option is to use Everhang 15kg Solid Picture Hanging Wall Hook. You can place the hooks into the wall and hang the mirrors metal frame on these hooks. Again, it's best to test these hooks at the store to make sure they fit on the frame.

I also suggest having a look at this guide - How to hang just about anything by @Adam_W

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
