We are looking at selling up in the next 6 - 12 months, and are wanting to do something about this very dated bathroom. We are looking to avoid the costs associated with a complete reno, and are instead hoping for some pointers around what might make the biggest difference for this space, on a budget. Any thoughts/opinions/guidance would be greatly appreciated as we are really not sure where to even start 😊
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Ryan1985. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about improving a bathroom on a budget.
Given the bathroom's current condition, it's important to weigh the potential return on investment for any upgrades against the reality that a new owner may opt for a complete overhaul anyway. Cosmetic changes, while they can freshen up the space temporarily, might not significantly increase the value of your home if the underlying issues, which are the outdated features, remain unaddressed. Ultimately, it's essential to consider the cost-effectiveness of any improvements concerning the potential increase in selling price, and I trust your real estate agent will have some great insight into that.
Simple tasks like painting the tiles in a neutral, modern colour, updating fixtures such as the taps and the shower head and cabinet hardware, and replacing worn-out or outdated accessories like towel racks or toilet roll holders are budget-friendly options that can improve the look substantially. The laminated vanity top is quite aged and worn, so investing in a new vanity basin for your existing cabinet would make a world of difference to the space.
