How to repair vanity side panel?

Hello everyone,

I am new to this community, can I please ask for your suggestion?

I accidentally pulled off the surface while removing a glued-on hair dryer shelf.

How can I fix it?

Thank you very much

Re: How to repair vanity side panel?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Viviano. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing cabinetry.

It looks like there’s been some substantial damage, especially in the middle where the glue has pulled off the cabinetry coating and exposed the internal material. Given that, I wouldn’t expect you to be able to remove the other two globs of glue without causing similar damage.

Your next steps will depend on your intentions. Repairing this area properly would be quite difficult, and you won’t be able to restore the factory finish. The best option would be to cover the damaged section as neatly as possible. If you weren’t intentionally removing the hair dryer shelf, reinstalling it in the same spot would be the simplest fix. If you’d prefer not to, you could try removing the remaining glue and applying a patch of white self-adhesive film over the area, though the rough surface might make it stand out. Another option is to install a different fixture, such as a small shelf or hook, that could help conceal the damage while still being functional. Let us know what you’d like to do, and we can suggest the best way forward.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
