I bought Dulux Renovation Range from Bunnings and painted over our dated peach coloured vanity bench top with Signature grey - it looks great.
The assistant in the paint department said I did not need to add the Clear Coat, but is it a mistake not to use it?
Hi @Rachel-B,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
The paint team member you've spoken to is correct that you don't need to add the clear coat if you don't want to, but it will add another layer of protection that is worthwhile long term.
There are two options with different levels of gloss, the Dulux Renovation Range Clear Coat Satin which is less glossy than the Dulux Renovation Clear Coat Gloss. Both will offer added protection with different levels of finish.
While the clear coat will add that additional layer of protection, it will change the finish of the benchtop. If you are fine with the higher gloss finish, it's worth considering as it will increase the longevity of the coating.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Jacob
Hi Jacob
It hopefully won’t need to be a long term solution, but is intended as a bit of a refresh as we are thinking of selling the property.
The paint finish looks really good so I think I can live without the clear coat.
Thanks for the reply!
Rachel
